Curriculum vitae of Luigi Fabbris:

Currently, full professor in Social Statistics at the Statistics Faculty, the University of Padua.
Graduated in Statistics at the University of Padua (1973); M.Sc. in Statistics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (1977).
Researcher (1978-85), assistant professor (1985-86) and, since 1986, full professor at the University of Padua. He lectured, too, in Survey Methodology and Official Statistics at the University of Padua and ISTAT; in Biostatistics at the University of Udine. He held courses on “Data quality in agricultural surveys” for FAO-FASC organisation in China (1999) and on sampling methods in Turkmenistan for the UN Statistics Division (1999).
Director of the Statistics Department, Padua (1989-1992) and of a University Master course in Opinion intelligence and Survey Technology (2002-2004). Member of various boards at the University of Padua (for Longlife learning, for Guidance, for Statistical services, since 1989). Member of the Italian Board for Italian University System Evaluation (CNVSU), since 2004. Member of the Scientific Board of the “Statistica Applicata/Applied Statistics” journal.
Member of the Italian Statistical Society (SIS), Royal Statistical Society (UK), International Association of Survey Statisticians (IASS), International Association of Official Statistics (IAOS), International Statistical Institute (ISI), International Federation of Classification Societies (IASC). He was a member of the SIS Council, IASS Council and ISI Council, and chaired the Working Group on Guidance of the Coimbra Group Universities.
Consultant of ISTAT (1980-1990), the Bank of Italy (1986), the Italian Ministry of Transports (1995), the Italian Parliament (for electoral districting, 1992-2001), the Italian Guarantee Commission for Statistical Information (1994-1997 and 1999), FAO for the Chinese Agricultural Census Post-Enumeration Survey (1997-2000) and FAO and Eurostat (1997) for Agricultural Statistics of Central European Countries, China Bureau of Statistics (2004 and 2006 for census quality control) and other public bodies and international private companies.
Authored, or co-authored, more than 300 scientific publications. Methodological areas of interest: data quality and sample survey designing, environmental and epidemiological studies, multivariate analysis, computer-assisted interviewing; multimedia surveys. Content areas of interest: handicap aetiology, health and the family, agricultural surveys, life and professional conditions of women at work, job and competence analysis for students and graduates, labour market analysis, teaching quality assessment, vocational and academic qualification recognition in Europe, social integration of immigrants, sports statistics. Currently, chairman of a national project related to competence analysis as a tool for linking jobs and educational profiles.
